Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FamilyDocs at familydocs.ai and the FamilyDocs application ("Service"), operated by FamilyDocs ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Your Account
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One person or household per free account.
2. What You Can Do
- Upload, organize, and search documents and household items
- Share documents with invited family members
- Export or delete your data at any time
- Use the AI-powered extraction and classification features
3. Your Data, Your Ownership
You own everything you upload. We do not claim any rights to your documents or data. We process your content solely to provide the Service (extraction, classification, reminders).
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload illegal content or use the Service for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service
- Resell or redistribute the Service
5. Free & Paid Tiers
The free tier is available indefinitely with usage limits designed to let you try the full product. Current free tier limits include:
- Up to 50 active documents (archived documents don't count)
- 5 document uploads per day
- 3 email-forwarded documents per day
- 50 household items
- 2 family members
The Plus tier ($8.99/month) provides higher limits: up to 500 documents, 50 uploads/day, 20 email-in/day, 500 household items, and up to 6 family members.
We may adjust these limits over time as the service evolves. We will notify users by email before any reduction in limits. There is no grandfather clause — all accounts are subject to current limits.
6. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice. We are not liable for temporary service interruptions.
7. Account Termination
By you: You can delete your account at any time. We recommend exporting your data first — once deleted, it cannot be recovered.
By us: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We will notify you by email and give you a chance to export your data before permanent deletion, except in cases of illegal activity.
8. Limitation of Liability
FamilyDocs is provided "as is." While we take security seriously and back up your data, we are not liable for data loss, missed reminders, or AI extraction errors. Always keep original copies of critical documents.
9. Privacy

10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll notify registered users by email of any material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
